The late 60's and early '70s were interesting times at Bowles, we:
Those were interesting days at CAL. Best wishes to all: Steve "TV Guide" Prey ('68 through '72)
John Oakley I was in the hall from 71-72. My roomates were Doug Rogers, and two others in the side rooms (Craig and ?) Love to hear from you. Comments:From PresSpring79 - 7/22/09 7:10 PM From Chuck Johnson '74 [74.182.246.47] - 4/13/09 1:33 PM We can give our undying thanks to Rich Girerd (410 center room, then 410B) for the Suicide serenades. He inherited the BHA A/V responsibilities somewhere around 1971 and was particularly fond of M*A*S*H. This places us squarely in the 16mm movie projector era and Rich (aka "Weasel") was quite a master at its manipulation.
From goodwinter - 4/10/09 11:40 PM Speakng of "M.A.S.H", I fondly recall that during Finals weeks, someone placed his Klipche speakers in his room window facing the courtyard and down the hill, occasionally serenading everyone with M.A.S.H. theme song "Suicide is Painless". Gary Bonhiver, resident 75-78, rooms 610, 501, 608 balcony, BH VP Fall '77, Men's Octet, still married to a "Sternie" after we met at a Bowles-Stern Valentines Dance in '78 From 76.25.163.60 - 12/10/08 9:43 PM TV Guide, I remember those nights before Star Trek, but they were on after M*A*S*H, a bit earlier in the evening! And who could forget the water fights, the "Annual Rites of Spring" streaking down to the campus! -Bill "Doc Rock" Petro From hspindel - 6/11/08 4:18 AM Hey Steve,
I remember you well. In my first quarter at Cal, I'm pretty sure you had the room next to mine (mine was 503 I think making yours 502). It was the 5th floor for sure and my room was the last room before the hall turned south.
Remember Uncle Gary and the pinball machine? Jim Stam and his pet iquana? Igor the dog? Remember playing "beer hunter" with the soda machine? Mrs. Cloninger's flying pancakes? "Take Two" Ernie (the cook, don't remember his last name).
After my first quarter, I spent the remaining 3 2/3 years at Bowles in Room 101A.

Those were my Klipsch speakers from '76 - '79 and I still have them and the album that I picked up used at Rather Ripped Records that we used as a replacement after the previous one disappeared. I remember that once we had the police come and say that they had received a complaint from all the way down on Parker St. - well on the other side of campus. I went through quite a few fuses on those speakers. The song was played 15 minutes before each final.
